Remote Litigators, Expert Witnesses and Co-Counsel Gain More Powerful Tools for Collaborating
DENVER (February 6, 2006) - RealLegal®, the market leader in technology to standardize, secure, and transmit electronic transcripts, released the fifth generation of its application for sharing transcripts, discovery documents, and streaming video via the Web. Version 5.0 makes RealLegal iBinder™ the only Web-based application that enables users to click on exhibit links within transcript text and launch exhibits and/or streaming video in a specialized viewer.
RealLegal iBinder is a central hub for data sharing between law firms, their service providers, and entire legal teams. A court reporting firm uploads transcripts, exhibits and video to a private RealLegal iBinder Repository from which authorized attorneys view the files on demand. Additionally, RealLegal iBinder connects litigators with their co-counsel, branch offices, consultants, experts and clients in a fully-featured, secure environment that can be accessed with Internet Explorer®. The web-based war room is equipped with tools to view transcripts, synchronized digital media, and documents, to make notes within transcripts, and to communicate via the message board, realtime chat, or calendar. RealLegal iBinder 5.0 extends to Web users many of the same transcript management tools that are already available to users of RealLegal desktop software products without requiring them to own the software.

New features in RealLegal iBinder 5.0 include:
- Hyperlinks to exhibits. RealLegal iBinder 5.0 supports exhibit links in transcripts. Users may click on hyperlinked text in a transcript to open the corresponding exhibit document in the RealLegal Image Viewer.
- OCR documents have an auto-generated word index. OCR’d exhibit documents in RealLegal iBinder 5.0 are viewed in the RealLegal Image Viewer and feature a comprehensive index of the words used in the document. Users may click on any term in the index to jump directly to its location in the document.
- Search documents and exhibits. RealLegal iBinder 5.0 users can search the content of OCR documents and jump directly to any “hits” for the search term.
- Share more file types. RealLegal iBinder 5.0 features a “Files” section in which authorized users may post any type of file, including documents that are not already posted in the Exhibits section, audio/video files that are unrelated to the transcripts, and URLs for applicable case law or other web resources. Accepted file formats include .pdf, .doc, .xsl, .ppt, .tif, .jpg, .mpg, .wav, .wmv, .asf, .asv, and .html.
- Add or remove users with one click. The iBinder Site Administrator may add or remove a user to all of the firm’s cases with one click. Previously, users were added to and removed from cases individually.
